Our Scope
The Shifnal STW project was designed to improve effluent quality and operational efficiency, ensuring full compliance with evolving environmental standards.
Key components of the project included:
✔️ New Primary Settlement Tank (PST) desludge pumps discharging to existing sludge holding tanks
✔️ Nitrifying Submerged Aerated Filter (NSAF) effluent pipe modifications
✔️ Tertiary Solids Removal (TSR) effluent and overflow pipework
✔️ Washwater pipework modifications and extensions
✔️ Installation of a new TSR complete with pumping station and Motor Control Centre (MCC)
✔️ Construction of a new dirty backwash tank and pump station
✔️ Implementation of a new chemical dosing plant
✔️ Final effluent monitoring system
✔️ Development of a new laboratory for on-site testing and monitoring
Project Progress & Impact
The project is currently approaching its final stages, commissioning is underway with remaining civil works underway to complete site concrete roads, Landscaping and Biodiversity Net Gain works. Final documentation and Handover are forecast for Q2 this year.
While the team has faced some challenges along the way, the team have worked diligently to push the project forward, ensuring that key assets went into service ahead of the Regulation Date and the project remains on track to deliver improved effluent quality, enhanced regulatory compliance, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of operations at Shifnal STW.
