Ramsey WRC Upgrade
Project Overview
CLient
Anglian Water
Project Name:
Ramsey WRC Upgrade
Objective:
FLI Water contributed to the tertiary solids removal (TSR) package, supplying disc filter technology that provides vital final polishing of treated effluent, supporting cleaner discharges into local watercourses, including Ramsey High Lode.
Principal Contractor:
FLI Water

Project Summary
Ramsey Water Recycling Centre (WRC) received a £10m upgrade to address two major challenges: insufficient stormwater storage capacity and the need to increase Flow to Full Treatment (FtFT) in line with Environment Agency (EA) and WINEP compliance.
This dual-scheme solution, delivered by the @one Alliance, will allow the site to handle 89.4 l/s and significantly reduce environmental impact during heavy rainfall events and peak loads.
FLI Water was selected to deliver the tertiary solids removal (TSR) system, supplying disc filters designed to provide final-stage effluent polishing.
This layer of treatment enhances overall discharge quality and contributes to protecting local watercourses including Ramsey High Lode.
Key Project Elements
- 🌀 New 693m³ storm tank added to increase capacity by over 250%
- ⚙️ Modular side-stream treatment with Lamella clarifiers, MBBRs, and DAF units
- ✅ Disc filters from FLI Water as part of the TSR system
- 🔌 Upgraded power supply and LV systems
- 🧠 Integration of telemetry for real-time monitoring
Sustainability Impact
The project is on track to deliver a 77% capital carbon reduction compared to baseline, supporting Anglian Water’s net zero ambitions for 2030.
Conclusion
FLI Water is proud to have supported this critical infrastructure project with high-performance tertiary filtration, contributing to environmental resilience and long-term compliance.
