Deliver critical infrastructure upgrades to meet Water Framework Directive and Environment Agency (EA) compliance requirements

Project Overview

FLI Water, in collaboration with G&L (Principal Contractor), is delivering a multi-phase programme of upgrades at Rampton Sewage Treatment Works (STW). The project supports Severn Trent Water’s AMP7 Quality programme, focused on enhancing effluent quality and aligning with regulatory targets set under the Water Framework Directive (WFD).

Our Scope

Phase 1 – EA Compliance (In Progress):
✔️ Site mobilisation, temporary facilities, and road access repairs
✔️ New potable water supply to chemical dosing rig and amenities
✔️ Installation of Ferric Dosing rig with MCC and kiosk
✔️ Final effluent monitoring for phosphorus and iron compliance
✔️ Laboratory conversion for chemical and MLSS testing
✔️ Standalone commissioning, reliability trials, and 28-day maturation

Phase 2:
✔️ Washwater pumps and accumulation tank for inlet works
✔️ New inlet screen, MCERTS monitoring, and access platforms
✔️ RAS pipe modifications

Phase 3:
✔️ Oxidation ditch modifications including flow inducers and new aeration control systems

Phase 4:
✔️ Final Settlement Tanks (FSTs) refurbishment, new scraper blades, motors, and sludge blanket detectors
✔️ Outfall pipe upgrade and bellmouth control enhancements

Phase 5 (Current Focus):
✔️ Road section prep and steelwork
✔️ Washwater slab installation
✔️ Main gate lift by 100mm for improved clearance
✔️ Mechanical works: chem dosing pipework and interlock systems
✔️ Ongoing containment and board installation on oxidation ditch platform
✔️ FST1 refurbishment completed with new motor and blades

Project Progress & Impact

The project remains in the civils stage, with ongoing works including ducting, slab pours, and concrete road construction.

 

Despite challenges, the site team continues to demonstrate excellent commitment and adaptability. 

 

With several key phases underway or nearing completion, the Rampton upgrade will deliver significant operational benefits, enhanced effluent quality, and full regulatory compliance for Severn Trent Water.
