Bredon STW – Green Recovery WINEP Upgrade
Objective:
To deliver key environmental improvements at Bredon STW as part of Severn Trent’s Green Recovery programme and to meet tighter Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) phosphorus discharge permits.
Principal Contractor:

Scope of Works:
- Construction of a new ferric dosing system and chemical delivery area
- Installation of a recirculation pumping station wet well and internal benching
- Cross-site ductwork and pipework to support improved treatment processes
- Biofilter mechanical mobilisation for enhanced filtration and process performance
Update – October 2025
The project is progressing well:
- Chemical dosing slab construction and excavation completed
- Dosing plant equipment delivered and successfully installed
- Recirculation pumping station wet well constructed with internal works
- Excavation of the site-wide pipework run is complete and final pipework connections are underway
Next Steps:
- Completion of all pipework and testing
- Mechanical installations in the chemical dosing area
- Installation of footpaths, bollards, and access enhancements
- Commencement of manhole ring installation
This project plays a key role in improving effluent quality and delivering long-term environmental benefits under the Green Recovery scheme.
