Project Overview
As part of Severn Trent Water’s AMP7 Water Framework Directive (WFD) programme, FLI Water was appointed to deliver essential compliance upgrades at Thorpe Satchville Sewage Treatment Works (STW). The works were designed to help meet environmental obligations under the National Environmental Programme (NEP), while ensuring long-term treatment performance and permit compliance.
Scope of Works
The project scope focused on enabling improved effluent quality and operational efficiency through:
✅ Installation of a new coagulant dosing system
✅ Replacement of the existing Primary Settlement Tank (PST) desludge pump
These key infrastructure upgrades were critical to ensuring the site could consistently meet the updated phosphorus discharge standards ahead of regulatory deadlines.
Project Progress & Impact
Construction works were successfully completed in Q4 2024, and the new assets were brought into service ahead of the permit compliance deadline in December.
With the system now operational, the site is undergoing process performance testing, final documentation, and handover procedures.
This project is an excellent example of early delivery, proactive environmental compliance, and close collaboration between FLI Water and Severn Trent Water.
Key Outcomes
Enhanced phosphorus removal capability
Early permit compliance
Reduced environmental impact
Improved operational control and system reliability
